Kat’s love for photography began from a trip to Africa, her older brother Daniel Atkins (Australian Wildlife Illustrator and Underwater Photographer) would not let her leave the country without purchasing a SLR camera and he gave her a crash course before boarding.
When Kat started building her artistic emporium, Daniel quickly reminded her, ‘You have to make use of the resources you have right now, you have a good eye and a good camera…’
Product photography began for One Leaf Designs, campaign shoots followed…
Move forward 10 years, Kat now works with other professionals in the field and has directed branding photoshoots and film for multiple companies including Australia’s Commonwealth Games Venues, retailers and small business. She will often freelance as a marketing and creative consultant and step in as photographer when required.
Kat has photographed events such as the Harlem Globetrotters World Tour and The 100th year ANZAC Ceremony, Currumbin, Australia. Kat also steps in as a second photographer for weddings as the candid moments appeal to her most and often become the bride and groom’s most treasured memories.
Kat’s photographs are often reposted on major instagram profiles however one job she truly enjoys is being the creative director for campaign shoots and photographer for lifestyle shoots of children/animals.
Campaign Shoots – Creative Director
‘Often when we are running a business we forget to step away and look from the outside in. I love helping business’s appeal to their clientele and stepping to the side of the camera. Showing companies what captures a customer attention is a real joy. I see the world in shapes and colour so when I can coordinate presentation and leave the photographer to snap away, we create magic!’ ~ Kat Atkins
Lifestyle shoots – Photographer
‘Animals and children are so unpredictable yet so honest in every expression. These pictures are often harder to capture but so rewarding when precious moments are caught in time.’
~ Kat Atkins
